160x160mm Robotic drawing (part 1)

I took an old OBDF project (Geoffrey) and used the "Make2D" command to make an outline, shifting Geoffrey's angle to figure out the best angle to use as an outline shade.

Clean up some of the lines to help set things up for the shading. 

 
 
Changed the scale and framing. 

Used my file that I made in class as a refrence for the different fills. 

Since all the lines are individual, they need to be grouped for the grasshopper commands. 

Look at him, with his little hat. 

Lots of splitting and joining to make closed shapes to use the fills in.

Well...that's pleasant to look at

Making Him into a Poster GCode stuff  Resizing the boy once again to see what size I want.  Made him a bit smaller than the piece of paper I aim to use so that I can have some buffer/wiggle room.  Fix the sort curves Fix the draw bed Edited some values Changed around the colours Checking the code (NC Viewer).  Printing/Drawing  Okay, so this was a bit of a process since I'm fairly sure I was the first to draw after class (I did it before the break, and just before Peter sent an email saying there would be no support).  But I figured it all out myself and Geoffrey is glorious.  So, right off the bat...there were two major problems, the machine wouldn't move no matter what I tried and I couldn't see where to override the axis to move it around properly.  I looked it up and...I needed to move the motors away from the sensors because they were too close and the button to override the motors was under a different tab.  But, once everything was set...

Making Geoffrey into a Poster Step One: Get Geoffrey Step Two: Go buck wild with "Make 2D" Fun angles (what I like to call 'dog asking for/smelling food')   More full body Hats and Rage Existential crisis Okay, two drawing options.  Decided to go with the Jaws-like poster.  First, I separated out the one section I wanted to be filled (after cleaning up the lines, as there are always some double lines or just weird ones that are unnecessary).  I wanted to do an offset fill, but the file on Google Drive wasn't working, so I looked up some stuff and also somewhat brute-forced it.  Eventually, I got this.  After, I changed up the text so that I could do another fill there. I did the concentric fill, though, it did turn out a little janky and has these skips in them. I like them, so I left them.  Here is the finished boy! EXPERIMENTAL DIGITAL FABRICATION (Final Project).

The Collaborative Sweater Team 2: Me, Cain, Aryan, and Sim We talked in a group about ideas and came up with using the CNC machine to draw on some fabric and then 3D print some sections of the drawing to highlight them, which will be turned into a sweater.  Thanks to Cain for organizing all our ideas to streamline what we are doing.  ( Notes Here ) The Patterns:  The sweater pattern (black lines) was split into sections for each of us to fill out.  Here is mine:  The Drawing:  Okay, so...a lot happened during the drawing of the CNC machine.  First, the setup was pretty easy. Aryan had set up the canvas by stapling it to a board that we could clamp down to the bed of the CNC machine. Doing a small test, the sharpies drew quite nicely and easily with minimal drag (though there was still some drag...as you will see).  Though we did have to centre the machine in the middle of the fabric (because that's the way that Aryan set up the file, which is actu...
